Toxin & Filler Hands-On Training Classes For Dentists
Toxin & Filler Certification
Dentists are in an ideal position to offer Botox and filler injections. First, they frequently perform injections. Second, they have an expert knowledge of facial anatomy. Third, patients are often already numb in the treatment area, fostering less complex injection application. Finally, dentists can improve their patient outcomes and results with Botox and fillers.
Botox is already used by dentists to treat certain conditions. The most common treatment is bruxism, or teeth grinding. Patients involuntarily grind their teeth while sleeping, causing damage over time. A trained dentist can address this malady.
The American Academy of Cosmetic Medicine offers the best toxin and filler certification course for dentists.
Becoming A Certified Aesthetic Injector As A Dentist
A dentist holds a degree and certification similar to a doctor. Since dentists focus on the mouth, their understanding of facial anatomy is more comprehensive. With dentists performing advanced injections such as nerve blocks every day, learning to inject toxin and fillers comes easy to a dentist.
Even though a dentist is already well qualified, all states require medical professionals to prove they have undergone adequate aesthetic injection training. The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery offers one and two day courses providing necessary instruction and training hours.
Adding Botox & Fillers To A Dental Practice
Botox and dermal fillers integrate well with the day-to-day routine of a dental office. These services do not add significant time to procedures, and do not require a separate appointment. The benefit is not only for the dentists, but also for the patients who often find getting toxin and fillers done at the dentist convenient and less painful. Other benefits for dentists and patients include:
- No waiting for insurance approvals and reimbursements
- Address concerns around the mouth and jaw benefiting from toxin or filler
- Combinable during other dental procedures
- Does not always require additional numbing
- Improve the patient’s smile.
- Open new treatment pathways to patients
- Cut down on unnecessary referrals and delays for your patients
- See results quickly
- Offer advanced and specialized treatments not commonly performed by physicians and medical spas
- Foster patient relationships
- Appeal to a wider patient base

Exam
Following either course, students can take the certification exam. The examination consists of a written portion and an oral exam. If a student passes, they become certified fellows of the American Academy of Cosmetic Medicine. If a student fails, they can retake the test up to four times per year for free.
Certification
Once certified, dentists can add FAACM to their list of credentials. Fellows also pay $99 per month to maintain their certification and support AACM’s education efforts. Fellows are given 24/7 access to expert injectors who are instructors of the AACM to discuss difficult cases, complications, and clinical care.
You will receive a phone number and email that you can contact at all times 365 days per year. Fellows also earn access to AACM’s online collection of educational videos, articles, and demonstrations.
