Beginner

Although called the beginner course, this course dives deeper than a basic understanding of Botox and filler injections. It will help equip them to create cosmetic patient plans and advise patients on the best treatments for them. In this course, NPs will learn:

  • Learn the standard facial muscles and anatomy that are used when injecting neurotoxins and dermal fillers.
  • Learn how dermal fillers and neurotoxins help delay and reverse signs of aging.
  • Understand the various neurotoxin options and the structural/functional differences between them.
  • Understand the various dermal fillers and the structural/functional differences between them.
  • Learn the correct injection placements for neurotoxins and dermal fillers for each area of the face.
  • Understand the best injection points and how to mark the face for standard cosmetic injections through studies and practice.
  • Understand the best way to prepare neurotoxins
  • Learn the top techniques and practices for patient pain management and preparation.
  • Participate in hands-on learning with 90 units of Dysport or 30 units of Botox. NPs can purchase more units during training at a discounted price.
  • Work through the hands-on filler training with one Restylane or Juvederm filler syringe. NPs can purchase more units during the training.

Advanced

The advanced course is the second tier in training once the participant completes the beginner's course. It adds to the material presented through the beginner’s course to develop in-depth techniques and skills to help nurse practitioners build their practice. During a two-day weekend training, NPs will learn:

  • How to work with patients who have complicated or unrealistic expectations
  • How to treat higher-risk patients
  • How to treat patients with asymmetry or complex facial anatomy
  • Work with, understand, and learn the techniques to administer permanent fillers like Sculptra.
  • Learn how to use a cannula and the proper injections for it.
  • Learn and practice advanced neurotoxin injections such as masseters, hyperhidrosis treatment, platysmal bands (Nefertiti lift), shoulder feminization, jaw slimming, gummy smile treatment, and headache/migraine treatment
  • Learn and practice advanced dermal filler injections like jawline enhancement, chin augmentation, temples, and advanced lip filler techniques.
  • Understand side-effect management for neurotoxins and dermal fillers.
  • Gain an understanding of the business of cosmetic injectables, such as how to create revenue with little overhead cost and the best way to find success.
  • Work with 30 units of Botox or 60 units of Dysport during hands-on training. Participants can purchase additional units during the course for a discounted rate.
  • Work with one syringe of Restylane or Juvederm during hands-on training. Participants can purchase additional units of dermal filler during the course.

Yes, nurse practitioners can open their own cosmetic injection business. In fact, many NPs who have become certified through AACM have gone on to open their own clinics and become their own boss.

The beginner’s course is eight to ten hours long and lasts for a day. The advanced course is held over two days, each lasting eight to ten hours.

Yes, students are allowed to bring their own models to the course. It’s preferred if the student is not their own model, as this can get in the way of training and learning during the course. Although it can sometimes be possible in specific cases.
